A striking original Art Deco adjustable desk lamp dating from the 1930s, featuring a geometric cream opaline glass shade supported within a ribbed black surround above a streamlined chrome-plated stem and square base.
The angular architectural form of the shade strongly reflects the “skyscraper” and Machine Age influences that characterised European Art Deco lighting of the interwar period. When illuminated, the opaline glass produces a beautifully soft, warm diffused light.
A particularly stylish and sculptural example of period Art Deco lighting.
Circa 1930s.
Chrome-plated metal and opaline glass.
Height: 270 mm
Width: 190 mm
