What a lovely old instrument with such a beautiful aged patina. This is a genuine Besson with serial number 106.379 showing it was manufactured in London between 1917 and 1921.
Inscribed on the Bell; Class A. 50 medals of Honour. Besson & Co. "Prototype" 198 Euston Rd London. England.
Inscribed on the valves;18, 17, 16.  Besson Brevete. 106.379

In 1837, Gustave-Auguste Besson (1820–1874) created the Besson brand in Paris with his new cornet. His instruments became famous in Europe, and he has been credited with over fifty inventions. In 1858, following a long series of lawsuits with Adolphe Sax, Gustave-Auguste Besson left Paris to build a factory in London.
