Old and weathered wooden, (teak?), bust of a Thai Goddess, possibly Manimekhala. This is a lovely and unique decorative object and is mounted on a stand. 600mm in height.
Manimekhala is a goddess in the Hindu-Buddhist mythology. She is regarded as a guardian of the seas. She was placed by Cātummahārājika to protect virtuous beings from shipwreck. She appears in several Buddhist stories including one in which she rescues Prince Mahajanaka from a shipwreck.
