We've never seen one of these but I guess there was a commercial need to slice bread quickly and efficiently even 140 years ago.
Place the loaf of bread beneth the knife and draw the handle down. I expect a good operator could make short work of a loaf!
Manufactured in Sheffield, Circa 1880. Lovely patina in the wooden base and the cast nameplate.
