A wonderfully characterful early English teddy bear, dating from around the 1930s–40s.
Traditionally constructed in golden mohair and firmly straw/wood-wool filled, the bear features jointed limbs, glass eyes, a pronounced muzzle and hand-stitched black nose and mouth. The elongated limbs and traditional construction are characteristic of British bears of the period.
Clearly a much-loved companion, the bear displays considerable loss and wear to the original mohair, together with age-related wear and old stitching to the paw pads. These signs of a long life give him considerable character and an appealing timeworn appearance.
He is dressed in a more recent hand-knitted blue woollen jumper, which complements his wonderfully expressive face.
An evocative early teddy bear with plenty of personality, appealing both as a collectable vintage toy and as a decorative object.
