Originating in French Colonial Cambodia, this exquisite Khmer round wooden jewellery or trinket box is lacquered and extensively inlayed with Mother of Pearl.
Beneath the lid there's a removable compartmentalized tray with further storage under. This is a heavy quality piece. Circa 1950 or earlier.
Vintage and antique Khmer lacquer-work and crafts in general is quite rare as not many survived the Khmer Rouge era in the 1970's.
